To Mark President's Day, George Washington's Mount Vernon Held Events And Released A New Video

On February 20, the country will honor its first President, George Washington, an influential leader who left a deep and lasting impression on democracy and the United States.
Mount Vernon will host various events on Presidents Day and throughout February. We recently released new commentary videos by Dr. Douglas Bradburn, President & CEO of Mount Vernon, on Mount Vernon. The values that George Washington instilled in the newly formed nation continue to stand today.
Details Of The Event Honoring The First President Of The United States

"Many Americans know that Washington was our victorious commander-in-chief in the Revolutionary War and that he served our country as its first president." Bradburn said.
Presidents Day is a time to think about how George Washington influenced the presidency and set basic standards for the rule of law, religious freedom, military-civil control, and process. The peaceful transfer of power. His actions determine the nation's direction, while his words warn of threats that could disrupt America's democratic foundations.
Learn about ten facts that all Americans should know but probably doesn't. But most Americans don't know these facts. These facts include that Washington was a Revolutionary War general and the father of our country and that his wife, Martha, asked to bonafide enslaved people be added to the domestic census.
You can visit Mount Vernon free of charge on February 20 and 22 to celebrate President Washington's birthday. Events include wreath-laying ceremonies, performances by the Commander-in-Chief's Guard, Drum Corps, and The Old Guard Fife music, naturalization ceremonies, the opportunity to meet Washington, demonstrations of Washington's favorite hoecakes, and so on. Mount Vernon, home of George Washington, is owned and managed by the Mount Vernon Women's Association, the oldest national historic preservation organization in the United States. The grounds are open to visitors and include museums, gardens, mausoleums, working farms, distilleries, and wheat mills. It also consists of the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon.
